Nations Under Fire: Game 1

Post by ShadowSpectre »

INCOMING TRANSMISSION

It's a new day, people!

mmxpert vs flan vs Spriter vs PureQuestion

Domination game mode. For those who don't know how it works, occupy red territories without being blocked by enemy units to gain points. Every turn you can control such a point, you get a Domination point. Get 25 to win the game.

New areas? New areas! Green areas are Strategic points. Not only will you benefit by being able to stay in these areas, you'll also receive Strategy Points (omg). These come in three varieties, corresponding to the Commander Skills you have, Direct Assault (Attack), Reactionary (Defence) and First Strike (Speed). You start with Strategic Points equal to your Commander Skills. Strategic Points are another resource in addition to Reinforcement Points that you'll need to purchase nonstandard units; your custom units. All your currently produced custom units are available for purchase immediately, as long as you can fulfil both RP and SP costs.

Maximum order of 8 units per turn. Below is the map with some explanations.

A word on Strategic points. Controlling such a point yields two Strategy Points per turn, randomly assigned to one of the three different stats. You can exchange them for custom unit prices or retain them for bonuses to all of your units. Every 10SP in a single stat gives you a slight boost to that stat; Direct Assault to Firepower, Reactionary to Armour and First Strike to movement. But remember that you need SP to buy custom units!

EDIT: Strategic Points also have a chance to double your income for the turn instead of providing you with SP. Either way, they're great!

Capturing zones now only requires one unit; you get one capture point per turn simply by holding it, and additional units don't speed up the points-per-turn rate. However, more units is a bigger stake on the cap, and enemies can block a capture by sticking a unit in the capture zone.

SK and Flan have hit a capture zone! They're 4% of the way to victory. MMX has declared a ceasefire against PQ's troops; they shan't fire against them first, but will retaliate only if fired upon. I remind you that you should confer amongst yourselves regarding pacts and truces. I can only declare your actions and I will not be a forwarding service. Flan received SP, PQ received doubled income.

PQ's hit two capture zones at once but Flan's taken the lead. Check your stats yourself for the Strategy Point data.

Ooer. I think we're about to have contact. However, Flan and SK have declared a truce with each other.

Corporal Takeda peered through the gunner's hatch. "Commander, I cannot see anything at the capture zone."
"Are you sure?" came the confused reply.
"Positive. We can see no enemy targets in the area."
"Well, someone Canadian is on that point."
Takeda considered for a moment before sending back an acknowledgement. "I'll get back to you." He crouched to look at the crew. "Cluster round. Scorch the earth." A round of nods and the crew leapt into action, loading a complex-looking shell into the breech. "Cluster loaded!" came the shout, and everyone held their earmuffs. "When ready!" Takeda ordered. There was an earth-shattering rumble and a bright flash of light outside. The explosion came second, then the searing heat close behind. An alarm screeched inside the tank and the massive shell casing chunked out into a formerly empty box. Takeda picked up the radio again. "Control, how about now?"
"No control. Good call."

"I can't get a fucking shot off through a window," Corporal Hirst complained. Corporal Floss snorted in response. He could never shut the whingeing bastard up, but he had a point now. Snipers had it hard enough with their shoulder cannons, but shooting it out of a flying Jeep was simply ridiculous.
Floss tapped the shoulder of the driver. "Land on the roof of that tower." Nodding in understanding, the driver carefully manoeuvred the Zephyr transport onto the building.
"Steady, steady, land ahoy," Hirst muttered to himself as the bump clacked his rifle barrel against the door.
"How about now?" Floss asked him sarcastically.
"Yeah, that'll do," Hirst grumbled, resting the rifle barrel on the window-frame and staring down the sights at the five soldiers clad in dusted red and grey camoflage armour. He pulled the trigger.

STATS

First contact! Flan and PQ kill one soldier each but Pure's lost an entire one-man unit; perhaps I should expand Soldat Blanc to L'équipe Blanc, eh? Only the one shot from PQ's snipers made their mark, the rest missed.

STATS

Flan's infantry scrambles into a nearby building, avoiding the wrath of PQ's soldiers coming in for a second round. Flan's tank also manages to avoid the barrage laid down by PQ's artillery. Canada has Japan on the run. Meanwhile, it looks like MMX is finally in place to start a rather gruesome campaign.

The distant columns of smoke wafted slightly as sounds of warfare rattled in the distance. Drone S-1215 turned its camera idly, examining the various plumes. There were two distinct areas, one to the east and one to the west, but S-1215's memories told it that the one to the west was new. It clinked a little internally, extending an arm to clean its camera lens. Plenty of airborne debris in the air. It registered a further two hundred tasks to ensure it would not encounter more permanent problems.

A massive wave of air buffeted it, and an internal alarm began ringing as it restabilised itself, trying to find the source. It finally regained its bearings, identifying the cause as the artillery piece nearby launching another drone (S-3391) at the courtyard of a nearby building. A second wave of air, this time searing with heat, almost catapulted it into the sky. Spinning uncontrollably and whirring wildly, S-1215's camera picked out the fast-moving forms of soldiers in a nearby building, and fast-moving forms of soldiers in a nearby building, and moving forms of soldiers in a nearby building, and moving fforms of soldiers in a neraby buisdfsagh

>RESTARTING MEMORY SPOOLING<

STATS

Flan's chopper killed all but two of PQ's infantry in a massive hammer down at centre, while his infantry landed one shot against the Zephyr. MMX makes his move, bombing the courtyard and killing one of SK's squads of infantry. Meanwhile, SK's got another squad taking the flank, but their attempt to use their ability in the same turn as ungarrisoning and regarrisoning shook their aim, missing a drone detachment.
