Me, on another forum wrote:Crazy idea: Automatically save to file whenever your party sleeps/rests/whatever. Then within the concept of the game, "save points" would still exist in the form of tents or similar items. Moreover, since they're limited by inventory space and allowance, you'll actually have to plan out when to use them in a risk/reward fashion.

Of course this could blow up in their face when they happen to pitch a tent with only one dude left alive, so there should be a menu setting to toggle this effect, defaulted to "On". That way if you want to save to an alternate file, or cancel the save entirely, you can give yourself the option to do so in advance, or leave the auto-saving off.

Maybe a third setting to remove saving entirely, for the thoroughly insane.

Hardcore mode yaaaay !

If a character is downed, remove it from the party entirely ! And all mobs are boss-ranked !

Romancing Saga has a system wherein there's a separate number called "Life Points" that reduces by 1 every time the character is KO'd. When it hits 0, they die, permanently.

So yeah, that's an option.

There isn't going to be a definitive "hard core" mode, because it's an RPG. Games like the Tales Of series makes more sense since you can master the heck out of the game and earn a larger reward as a result of higher difficulties, but in this case it really won't.

That said, every personal story arc you complete, all other story PCs get level balanced, and the enemies in the world also become more powerful to match. More arcs you finish, the more challenging the game gets overall, until fights are akin to final dungeon enemies in Final Fantasy 3 or 4. (Every enemy is now a boss fight! Get used to that run command!)

Alright, so since things are going to be mostly individualized save for the game's climax, chances are everyone will be traveling around with their own personalized party of people, unless they don't have one. (And I'm pretty sure everyone here is a loner who doesn't have one)

If you DO have other characters who would conceivably "join your party" in the context of your own adventure (Without you murdering them on-sight), then feel free to include them as well, also with their own stat sheet as with your main character.

Also where the heck is FF? Bandwagon leaves without those offboard.

Debate: I remove the "attack" command, and instead everyone gets a fuckton of skills. MP will regenerate normally.

Possible idea; the concept of always... using... MP...
Uh.
I prefer that it's a metric ton of skills, but some of them don't use MP, usually physical attacks.
Or at least have a back-up no-MP skill just in case someone Mana Burned you or drained MP.
But that's an interesting idea... makes stacking up on MP Potions less of an afterthought until the end game.

For party additions, should we add a backstory? Or just general character sheet?
