Levels will be thematically different. I'll try to explain the story below, simply.
A bunch of dudes called Viari are these dudes with wings and shit, kind of like harpies. They're a bunch of okay guys and generally intelligent (a more human looking bunch of Chozos), and they liked to build cool technology shit because they could. So they're sort of futuristic and cool and all that.
Humans exist in this world as well, and they generally sort of have a grudge with the Viari. Mainly because a small group of humans are assholes and like stealing some Viari tech and selling it for profit. So they don't really like eachother. Obviously a good number of them know it's just a small group of douchebag thieves, but still. They don't know which, so the unease is there.
One day a bunch of flying machines of sorts sort of fly over a section of Viari inhabitants, and blow it the fuck up.
So one of the Viari, a dictator named Asmodeus, resolved that it was the humans who had twisted the hearts of the Viari, and they were now at war. So they slap together a bunch of automated ships using a new fuel source they call "Khaos Viaros", and they go off to counter-attack Human HQ.
The humans are confused by this, as they have no record of an assault, or reason to, on the Viari homes. Fortunately, humans are at the stage wherein they have the technology to combat this incoming threat. They get together a small group of people in their military and go to fight the Viari menace.
You are on the human's side. Viari crazy robot shit are the enemies.
As before, every stage ends with a boss named after a devil related to one of the seven sins. The enemies for that stage are sort of thematically similar, as before, but I'll give a bit of a generalization.
Stage 1 = Belphegor = Tanks and minor aircrafts in a city area
Stage 2 = Beelzebub = Insectoids in a forested area
Stage 3 = Leviathan = ??Ships?? in an ocean area
Stage 4 = Lucifer = ??Planes/Helicopters/other airships?? in a dense clouded area
Stage 5 = Avaritia = On-rails enemies in the enemy factories
Stage 6 = Asmodeus = ?? in the final base
Stage 7 = ?? = ?? in the inner sanctum
For all the ??'s you can feel free to suggest a theme and I'll think about it. Just make enemies.
Are you using a different system for the non-hit when too close than the one used in Amethyst Dream?
Because I recall it sometimes not working properly and ended with the player crashing onto the boss anyways. Also, will there be 'too close to the enemy, enemy doesn't fire' effect too?
