Rules of the Forums

All of the following should be followed; however, moderators of any description may make decisions at their own discretion in exceptional cases if they are valid to moderate the given section of the forum the offence occurred in (all moderators can "moderate" the Shoutbox). These decisions are to be followed; see the first rule in the list. If they entail long-term conditions, they will be discussed by the staff.

Concerning forum warnings: one elicits a scolding, by PM or SB, whichever is faster and/or gets their attention better. Two may require a PM, but this is at the moderators' discretion. Three will incur a ban of variable length to be decided by the mods. Repeated offences after this will result in a permanent ban.

The following rules should be followed at all times. Disregarding them can have varying degrees of penalties, from scoldings to permanent bans.

Listen to the staff. If a staff member tells you something, you listen to it. When something comes up that needs moderators to step in, the staff will also declare that they are warning moderation, so as not to confuse you. This is not a hard and fast rule, but at the very least, moderators will warn you when you're overstepping a line.

No trolling. Insistent, repetitive and more serious cases of trolling will be classed as inciting another user and will result in a warning or worse.

Breaking the following rules incur a 24-48 hour variable ban, unless otherwise stated in the rules or by a moderator:

Only one account per user. If you have a request for another account, perhaps for roleplaying purposes, for example, contact an administrator.

Do not post three or more hyphens in a row in the Shoutbox. This breaks it, due to an error in the code. You will not be able to tell this, but for all other users, the Shoutbox stops working. Don't do it. If you want to post a link with hyphens in, use the

Code: Select all

tag. Doing this by accident incurs a 6 hour ban. This may happen up to three times; repeated breaking more than three times will incur a 24 hour ban. More than this will sharply increase the consequences.

No posting lewd or inappropriate images on the forums anywhere. If you post a link to such images or a page with such images (singular and plural), you are also liable for a ban. If you link to a page that has such images, but intended to show a different part of the site (for example, NSFW adverts), then state that, and the staff will mull it over.

Breaking the following rules will earn you a forum Warning, unless otherwise stated in the rules or by a moderator:

No necroposting. A necropost is a post in a topic where the last post was more than a month ago in a topic that does not belong to you, provided the post does not contribute to the topic in question in a large way. Merely commenting on a previous post does not contribute in a large way.

The following are more relaxed as rules, but should be followed. Again, it's up to the moderators to decide what the best course of action is. The chances are that you'll get off lightly for breaking these, but of course, since it's up to the moderators, repeated offences may incur penalties that are significantly worse. Don't run the risk.

No spamming. This entails posts that are unrelated to any of the posts in the topic you are posting in. Try not to go off topic.

Don't post large images in the Shoutbox. We understand there are sometimes mistakes, for example with copying and pasting relevant addresses, but these will be deleted when they are posted. If you use a
tag to hide the images, this is fine.

Basically:

Use common forum sense. Listen to what the staff say.

Going to make this official: We now have a zero tolerance policy for misogyny, on-site or off-site.

As part of this, flan/coronaa/hyphen has been permanently banned from everything I could think of, and this time it's going to stick. I advise you all sever contact with him.

Also, because it just occurred to me, no rape jokes. If it's not referring to an actual sex crime that actually happened, don't say rape.

Or 'surprise sex' or anything cutesy like that.
