Gold Stars
While I've mentioned it already and most of you know it, I've added Gold Stars to the UFF. Essentially a Gold Star is a completely arbitrary measure of your helpfulness. If you make an insightful or tactful post or comment, you might earn a Gold Star. If you post something humorous, you might earn a Gold Star. Maybe if you post something incredibly useful and helpful, you'll get a Gold Star.
At any given time, the maximum amount of Gold Stars is capped at 21 (a coy reference to the supposed weight of a soul). There is a minimum of -1 stars.
Realistically, I created Gold Stars as a means to justify bias. For just this one thing, I plan on being incredibly bias. If I like your post, it'll get you a star. However, it isn't just me (or IE), I'd like to extend the giving of Gold Stars to all members. Basically all you have to do is notify me of someone else's clever insightful post. We'll take a look at it and see if it deserves a Gold Star.
One last final point worthy of mention. Mods (be it Global or Sectional) are able to edit their own star counts. So, if you see any mods suddenly gain stars (I don't expect them to), then please report it to me (I really don't care). Actually report it to my boss, IE. He'll be happy to take care of any and all complaints.
(p.s. if you get the feeling that this is incredibly (and perhaps wrongly) judgmental, then it is working as intended. It is supposed to be something that is exclusive, not just anything will win a gold star.)
So yes. I hope you all don't mind this incredibly sudden (I didn't even ask IE beforehand!) change. I hope none of you mind it too much, and if you do, please feel free to tell me what you don't like about it.

Re: Gold Stars
If it is to justify bias, then what about voting section since there's the section that is against the bias the most to prevent unfair results.
Whee.

Sadly, Gold Stars are unfair. It isn't everyone gets one. They are awarded on pure bias.Dualer wrote:If it is to justify bias, then what about voting section since there's the section that is against the bias the most to prevent unfair results.

This sounds incredibly inconvenient if we have to contact you every time we find a helpful/insightful post, not to mention have to ask if you find it clever/humorous/insightful

Re: Gold Stars
Well I can't do anything about the inconvenience. I have to go through the ACP to modify a regular users Gold Star count.AlexMdle wrote:This sounds incredibly inconvenient if we have to contact you every time we find a helpful/insightful post, not to mention have to ask if you find it clever/humorous/insightful
And, for the last time, this whole thing is supposed to be incredibly biased. It isn't about following some set of Gold standards to determine whether or not someone deserves a Gold Star. It is simply an opinionated decision by yours truly (also IE).
I hope that clears everything up. No more worrying about this whole "fairness" thing, or "ego", or whatever.

Re: Gold Stars
Ego or not, either everybody should be able to add stars (Coding something like this would be a nightmare I presume), or there is no point in adding this.
